Attend a Workshop
During the fall and spring semesters, the Academic Excellence Program offers workshops intended to help students develop the skills they need to achieve their personal best and become self-reliant. The workshops cover a range of skills, including case reading, case briefing, learning strategies, legal analysis, outlining, and exam preparation and taking.
All first-year students may attend the Academic Excellence Workshops. Although attendance is voluntary, we encourage students to attend.

Improving Exam Performance: Reviewing Common Missteps on Fall Semester’s Exam Answers
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream: Preparing for success on your first law school exams: Prof. Ed Butterfoss
This Exam Preparation Workshop was held Oct. 31, 2016.
“I work full-time and am a single mother. [I] have significantly less time to study compared to some of my classmates. Your [outline strategies], while they took time to [implement], actually saved me time in the long term because I was outlining the correct way. I knew the right way to analyze the material, ask the right questions, and really get in-depth in my analysis on the exams.”
“I took all your all your workshops this semester and they really paid off for me. I raised my Contracts grade an entire letter grade … and raised my Torts grade from a C+ to a B. I know this improvement was a direct result of your workshops.”
