Admitted students are invited to to get to know Mitchell Hamline’s faculty, staff, and students during this on campus event. Sessions will include a student panel, mock class, academic opportunities, and a keynote lunch with Judge JaPaul Harris ’03. Guests of admitted students are also invited.

June TBD: Campus Connect through Canvas
Campus Connect is an online “course” hosted through Canvas. It provides incoming students with helpful contacts and links as you prepare for law school. This course will also be used throughout your time at Mitchell Hamline to send important announcements.

Aug. 6–9: JumpStart Pre-1L Program
Entering students are invited to join their future Mitchell Hamline classmates for our JumpStart Pre-1L Program. Faculty, staff, students, and alumni will offer interactive sessions about:
- Building community
- The 1L experience
- Wellbeing in law school
- Developing and enhancing study skills
The Academic Excellence team will share strategies for how to approach your courses and introduce critical reading, case briefing, and IRAC writing for exams.
They will present everything from what happens in a law school classroom to what lawyers actually do in the world and a lot in between. JumpStart will be offered remote and synchronous via Zoom. All times Central.

Aug. 13, 14, 15: Mandatory Orientation for On-Campus Students
Orientation includes some academic skills training, which will be led by your Legal Methods professor. But, it is primarily intended to welcome you and introduce you to the people and departments that will support you during your law school experience.
You will meet with school administrators, professional leaders, and faculty and staff, and you will hear from current students. You will have the chance to connect with representatives from a range of departments that will work closely with you on academic issues like advising and tutoring as well as offering counseling, wellness programming, disability services, cultural support, and other services designed to care for you as a person. All times Central.
