The MDLA Diversity committee wants to host a cookie/ coffee or light cold hors d’oerves reception for Mitchell Hamline Law Students. The purpose of this get together is, quite frankly, to let Mitchell Hamline students from diverse backgrounds know who we are, why diversity in the practice of law is important and our ongoing efforts to support increasing diversity in the hiring, retention and promotion of attorneys involved in the defense of civil lawsuits. We also want to be able to provide Mitchell Hamline students who may be interested in civil litigation with contact information/ resources for getting involved with MDLA and hopefully becoming employed by our member firms.
5 pm – 6 pm
Kelly Board Room
At the meeting we will introduce MDLA and its Diversity Committee. We will provide a copy of an MDLA Magazine article that outlines concrete steps we as an organization are taking to increase diversity. We will also provide specific information concerning our diversity initiatives including our upcoming Diversity Seminar and Reception on June 6th ( Minneapolis- 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.) and possible attendance by Mitchell-Hamline students to attend our Trial Techniques Seminar in Duluth (August 17-18). We basically sponsor slots for a limited number of students to attend this seminar as our guests—i.e. we pay for lodging, meals, seminar attendance and match up each student with “mentor” attorneys from MDLA.
