Combine your Mitchell Hamline J.D. with a Master in Public Health–Public Health Administration & Policy from the University of Minnesota
As changes in national, state, and local health care law and policy continue to grow, a dual degree in law and public health is more valuable than ever. Mitchell Hamline School of Law and the University of Minnesota School of Public Health offer a dual degree program where students can combine a Master of Public Health in Public Administration & Policy with a J.D.
Through the dual degree, students can earn both degrees in just four years of full-time study.
Graduates of both programs will be equipped to identify public health law priorities, research, and draft laws that impact the public’s health and provide legal guidance in public health concerns.
How it works
Students apply separately to both Mitchell Hamline and the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. Students have a faculty advisor at both schools to assist in selecting courses that meet career aspirations. The majority of students begin at Mitchell Hamline and spend their first year pursuing foundational J.D. coursework. In the second year, students typically begin their Master in Public Health program at the University of Minnesota, completing a majority of their master’s courses. In the third year, students take courses at Mitchell Hamline, and in their final year complete courses in both programs.
