William J. “Bill” Egan, Todd A. Taylor ’98 (WMCL), and four other lawyers have founded Avisen Legal, P.A., a business law boutique offering sophisticated legal advice and counsel to businesses and entrepreneurs. Taylor serves as Avisen’s CEO. Avisen, pronounced like horizon, means adviser in Old French.
Egan, a 30 plus year executive compensation and employment law attorney, was formerly at Oppenheimer, William J. Egan, PLLC, and Rider Bennet.
Prior to co-founding Avisen, Taylor was part of the business team at JUX Law Firm. For ten years prior to joining JUX, Taylor was a shareholder at Fredrikson in the Business Law Department. Prior to Fredrikson, Taylor was a business lawyer at Rider Bennet, Larkin Hoffman, and a solo lawyer.
According to Egan, “Avisen Legal brings together the power of highly trained lawyers for the benefit of business clients who want sophisticated and responsive legal services delivered directly by senior level lawyers. As a business law boutique, Avisen Legal brings a team of highly capable transactional and C-Suite lawyers who can deliver high-quality, efficiency and value without the overhead associated with a large full-service law firm.”
Taylor further commented that “starting Avisen has been an eye-opening experience. We are all better lawyers who can better understand our entrepreneur clients now that we have rolled up our sleeves and started a business from the ground up. We founded Avisen Legal to harness the legal experience and talent of highly skilled and highly trained lawyers who want to leverage their legal acumen for the benefit of business clients. Now that we are entrepreneurs ourselves, we can flavor our practical legal advice with a dose of empathy.”
