We also discussed planning and preparing for spring events. You can learn more about upcoming events below!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Looking Forward<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You may recall, on the evening of January 28<sup>th<\/sup>, we\u2019ll host the <strong>Mentorship Program Spring Semester Kickoff <\/strong>at the law school.\u00a0 Students will have access to some of the mentors and learn about launching and fulfilling their career path and goals. We\u2019ll have beverages, appetizers, and good conversation. \u00a0This event is also intended to complement career-related events in the spring by giving students information about how to start their career and meet their career-related goals.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019d love to see you there. The event will include diverse views on attire. It will help you determine how to dress in the most comfortable and appropriate way for your legal career.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>January Discussion Points<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><strong>First-Year Mentorship Discussion Points (Career Exploration)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Review the discussion questions below with one or more of your classmates or another person in the legal profession that you know. Do you agree with their viewpoints or not? Why?<\/p>\n<p>Think about how many people you know working in the legal profession. What kinds of jobs do they have? Can you identify jobs for which someone need or would want a law degree, other than an attorney? Can you identify anything more specific than an attorney? For example, a family law attorney in a medium sized law firm. Do any of the jobs you identified surprise or interest you? Think about the different organizational settings where people use their law degrees. Do any of those organizational settings surprise you?<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Upper-Level Mentorship Discussion Points (Financial Well-Being)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Talk with your mentor or classmates about the questions and issues below. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau defines financial well-being as \u201chaving financial security and financial freedom of choice, in the present and in the future.\u201d Financial well-being plays a role in your life as a student, but it plays an even bigger role after you\u2019ve graduated.
