She ran unopposed. Prince is also an alumni relations officer at Mitchell Hamline.<\/p>\n<p>She joins<strong> Chris Tolbert<\/strong>, a 2008 grad, who was first elected to the council in 2012 and was re-elected this fall after running unopposed. Tolbert is an assistant\u00a0Hennepin County Attorney.<\/p>\n<p>Prince graduated from Hamline University School of Law, where she earned a certificate from the Dispute Resolution Institute. She moved to the Twin Cities in the 1970s and held city government positions in both Minneapolis and St. Paul over the next three decades.<\/p>\n<p>While working as a legislative aide for former St. Paul council member and attorney Jay Benanav, Prince saw the advantage that a legal education brought to handling city government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dIt\u2019s this other layer of being able to look at a situation and figure out different ways to maneuver, get things done, and help people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Prince earned her J.D. through Hamline Law\u2019s weekend J.D. program, an enrollment option that\u2019s available at the newly combined Mitchell Hamline School of Law.<\/p>\n<p>MHSL has more enrollment options than any law school in the country, including full-time, part-time, and weekend classes, as well as the innovative online and on-campus Hybrid Program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mitchell Hamline School of Law alums now hold two of the seven spots on St. Paul\u2019s City Council.
