Michael Freer joined Mitchell Hamline School of Law as interim director of human resources in 2021 after almost 25 years of service to the State of Minnesota in various roles, including over 15 years in human resources. Michael began his human resources career at the Minnesota State Colleges and University, system office as an HR assistant. Over his six years at the system office, Michael was promoted within Human Resources three times, reaching the role of assistant director of human resources. In 2012, Michael accepted the assistant director of human resources role at Metropolitan State University and served in that role for six months before returning to the system office as the interim chief human resources officer for three months. Michael returned to Metropolitan State University as its interim chief human resources officer and served in that capacity for approximately 8 months before accepting the role of chief human resources officer at North Hennepin Community College. Michael worked at North Hennepin for over three years before resigning to accept the role of chief human resources officer role at St. Cloud State University. Michael served St. Cloud State University for over four years before joining Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
