Visiting Professor of Law
Professor Steve Aggergaard is a legal educator and professional writer who teaches Professional Responsibility. For 12 years, he was a litigation and appellate attorney at Minneapolis law firms. Aggergaard clerked for Hon. Paul A. Magnuson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and Hon. Sam Hanson of the Minnesota Supreme Court.
Before his legal career, Professor Aggergaard was an editor and reporter for the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, Duluth News Tribune, and Fort Dodge (Iowa) Messenger. He holds a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Professor Aggergaard also has taught journalism at Augsburg College in Minneapolis and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Professor Aggergaard maintains scholarly interests in the areas where law and journalism intersect, ethical issues in particular. He has written on legal topics for the Star Tribune and Pioneer Press, been a source for publications ranging from City Pages to the People’s Daily of China, and appeared on air for Minnesota Public Radio, FOX 9, WCCO-AM, and KFAI-AM.
An avid long-distance runner, Professor Aggergaard is finishing his first book, The Law of Running: A Runner’s Guide to Legal Rights.
