Veronica Surges is a career public defender. She graduated with honors from The George Washington University Law School after completing two public defense externships and the esteemed D.C. Law Students In Court clinic program. She has both trial and appellate experience and has been an Assistant State Public Defender in St. Paul, Minnesota for six years. She has argued and won many Court of Appeals and Supreme Court cases and is passionate about prison and criminal justice reform. She has been an adjunct clinic instructor at Hamline and Mitchell-Hamline for five years. In her free time, Veronica is an apprentice bike mechanic at REI, and enjoys hanging out with her toy poodle, Duckie (who has a pink mohawk).
