It protects people who are not or are no longer participating in hostilities and restricts the means and methods of warfare.<\/p>\n<p>The course covers the history and fundamental principles of IHL, the treaties on which it is based, in particular the Geneva Conventions and related instruments; and its evolution in customary international law, rules that come from general practices accepted as law that exist independent of treaty law.<\/p>\n<p>This course is designed for individuals with an interest or background in international humanitarian law, human rights, or international affairs. It is suitable for undergraduates, law students, graduate students in related areas, and legal or international affairs professionals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Event Details:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The program is open to the public.
