MHSL is currently seeking to a fill the Food Market Assitant position though The Wellstone Center in St. Paul. This position has scheduling flexibility and the pay is $20 per hour. To be eligible, please note that a 2021-2022 FAFSA is needed as well as a work study request form. Food Market Assistant
Location: The Wellstone Center
Duties: Volunteers are responsible for helping Neighborhood House participants receive healthy and culturally appropriate food for themselves and their families.
•Assist participants in the Food Market with shopping for food. Amount of food received is based on size of household. Guidelines are posted on each shelf by food categories.
•Assist in weighing food on scale and maintaining food records by following procedures.
•Assist with stocking food onto shelves when items are low.
•Other duties assigned by Food Market staff.
Time Commitment: 3 hour shifts, minimum commitment of 4 shifts (over the semester)
-Monday-Friday 9:00-12:00 PM, 1:00-4:00 PM
Qualifications: •Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 10 pounds.
•Good interpersonal and communication skills.
•Ability to relate to persons of different ethnic, racial, cultural backgrounds.
•Ability to work in group setting and follow directions of supervisor.
•Patient, tolerant and respectful of confidentiality.
•Dependable and prompt.
•Able to speak Spanish/Hmong/Thai/Karen a plus but not required.
