We administer all veteran&#8217;s benefit programs including Chapter 30, 31, 33, 35, 1606, and the Minnesota GI program. Off-campus employment, typically with legal services employers, provides valuable experience and community networking opportunities. On-campus employment is available as department clerks, research assistants, and library staff. Work-study eligibility, like federal loans, requires a FAFSA application.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/financial-aid\/what-is-work-study\/\">More information on work study<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">Federal Perkins Loan<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>Perkins Loans are a federal lending program that is expiring in 2016-17. Only students who received a Perkins loan disbursement before October 1, 2015, while in the JD program at MHSL \u00a0can qualify for a Perkins \u00a0loan in 2016-17, the last year of the program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>Up to $20,500 annually is available in this federal loan program.<\/p>\n<p>Loan terms and details:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\">studentaid.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/financial-aid\/direct-loan-program\/\">More information on the Federal Direct Loan Program<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loan<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>After other aid is in place, Federal Grad PLUS Loans fund up to the maximum cost of the program, including tuition and living expenses. This federal loan is credit based. A Hard credit check is run when the loan is originated or if a &#8220;PLUS Loan&#8221; is applied for on studentaid.gov. The credit check is good for 180 days. Contact the Financial Aid Office with any questions or concerns you may have about credit worthiness for the Grad PLUS Loan<\/p>\n<p>Loan terms, details and an application\/promissory note is available at:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\">studentaid.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">Private, Commercial Non-Federal Loans<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>Commercial banks and credit unions provide non-federal student loans. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/choice.fastproducts.org\/FastChoice\/home\/239100\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FASTChoice<\/a> loan page provides private loan options for the J.D degree, LL.M, certificate, bar study and international students. Loan amounts are counted in the financial aid total, and funds are disbursed through your student account. The loans are credit based, with varying terms. Be sure to understand the interest rate, fees, and repayment terms of any loan you are considering. We can help you evaluate loan terms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">State and Federal Loan Repayment Options<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>Loan repayment options and assistance include several choices for managing loan debt. Income sensitive payments scaled to your household income are available in the Income Based Repayment (IBR) and the Pay as You Earn (PAYE), REPAYE and SAVE options. Your federal loan servicer can help you with repayment option advice and applications. The federal loan forgiveness program, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), is based on full time public service employment. The child care grant is awarded to students on the following basis:<br \/>\n*Priority: Students who have received the Minnesota Childcare Grant the prior year with an application deadline of July 1st, these students will also be sent an e-mail notice when it is time to reapply.<br \/>\n*New Applicants: New applicants will be processed on a first come first served awarding scale. the application deadline for initial processing is September 1st.<br \/>\n*Any remaining applicants will be processed from a waitlist on the electronic confirmation of receipt of the application.<br \/>\n*All disbursements are made electronically to your student portal and any funds are sent via check or eRefunds (Direct Deposit)<br \/>\n*Fall disbursements are estimated to be complete by Oct 1st, Spring Disbursements are estimated to be complete by February 1st<br \/>\n*Any remaining applicants will be processed from a waitlist on the electronic confirmation of receipt of the application.<br \/>\n*In the event of a closure over winter break, we will count the month of January with supporting documentation.<\/p>\n<p>Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA, to be considered for grant awards.
