{"id":4575,"date":"2026-05-06T10:18:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T15:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/financial-aid\/?page_id=4575"},"modified":"2026-05-06T13:28:45","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T18:28:45","slug":"minnesota-indian-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/financial-aid\/mn-state-aid\/minnesota-indian-scholarship\/","title":{"rendered":"Minnesota Indian Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minnesota Indian Scholarship is a scholarship offered by the State of Minnesota Office of Higher Education.<\/p>\n<p>Scholarships are available to students who:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Are one-fourth or more American Indian ancestry OR an enrolled member or citizen of a federally-recognized American Indian tribe or Canadian First Nation<\/li>\n<li>Are a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ohe.mn.gov\/paying-college\/how-apply-financial-aid\/are-you-eligible\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Minnesota resident student<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Apply for other existing state and federal scholarship and grant programs<\/li>\n<li>Enroll at least \u00be time as an undergraduate OR \u00bd time as a graduate student in an education program leading to a certificate, diploma, or degree at an eligible accredited postsecondary institution in Minnesota<\/li>\n<li>Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)<\/li>\n<li>Are not in default on a federal or state student loan or, if in default, have regained eligibility for federal or state student aid<\/li>\n<li>Qualify for either a Pell or State Grant and demonstrate financial need as an undergraduate student OR demonstrate financial need as a graduate student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The annual award amount is up to $4,000 per academic year for undergraduate students and up to $6,000 per academic year for graduate students.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Students enrolled in two-year degree, certificate, or diploma programs are limited to 3 annual awards or the equivalent (6 semesters, 8 quarters).<\/li>\n<li>Students enrolled in four-year degree programs are limited to 5 annual awards or the equivalent, including any awards received while enrolled in a less than 4-year degree program (10 semesters, 14 quarters).<\/li>\n<li>Students enrolled in graduate or professional degree programs are limited to 5 annual awards or the equivalent (10 semesters, 14 quarters).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An annual award may include one eligible summer term, which will count towards the equivalent annual maximums.<\/p>\n<p>Students may receive up to 10 annual awards or the equivalent in a lifetime (5 awards at undergraduate level + 5 awards at graduate level).<\/p>\n<p>Students may receive the scholarship for only one degree per educational level and one terminal graduate degree.<\/p>\n<p>Interested students should complete the Minnesota Indian Scholarship application below.
