The 14th District<br \/>\nincludes the following counties located in the far northwest portion of Minnesota: Kittson, Roseau,<br \/>\nMarshall, Polk, Red Lake, Norman, and Mahnomen.<\/p>\n<p>This area offers an extraordinary opportunity to gain work experience, try various areas of the<br \/>\nlaw, and rapidly develop a career. However, it is difficult to attract individuals who are unaware of the<br \/>\nwork opportunities, quality of life, and beauty of this area.<\/p>\n<p>This scholarship is funded by membership fees and is intended to both highlight and attract<br \/>\nindividuals to the 14th District.<\/p>\n<p>Eligibility criteria for this scholarship are:<\/p>\n<p>1. One completed semester of law school and a student currently in good standing in an<br \/>\naccredited school.<br \/>\n2. Employment in the 14th District as defined by one of these criteria:<br \/>\na. Actively employed in the 14th District at the time of the application;<br \/>\nb. Previously employed in 14th District within the past three months; or,<br \/>\nc. Confirmed employment within the 14th District (with a start date within three months of<br \/>\nthe application).<br \/>\n3. Employment must be in the legal profession and include at least 25% in-person (and not<br \/>\nremote) work.<\/p>\n<p>To apply for this scholarship, submit the following to Stephanie J.S. Harbott by email at<br \/>\nharbott@nwmnlaw.com.<\/p>\n<p>1. A cover letter (not to exceed two pages) that includes a description of the qualifying<br \/>\nemployment, any connection or interest to this area, career goals, and any service to rural<br \/>\ncommunities; and,<br \/>\n2. A resume, not more than one page.<br \/>\n3. Applicants should not include any data that might reveal their gender, age, race, ethnicity,<br \/>\nreligious affiliation, or sexual orientation. Use initials in place of full first &amp; middle names.<br \/>\nAll applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024.
