Growing up in India, Mira Vats-Fournier believed law was an instrument that could be used to fight for justice and fairness. She dreamed of becoming a lawyer so she could contribute to that fight.<\/p>\n

Mitchell Hamline student Mira Vats-Fournier recently received the Briggs and Morgan \/ Honorable Samuel L. Hanson Diversity Scholarship.<\/p><\/div>\n
Vats-Fournier and her family moved to the United States when she was a teenager, and that dream turned into a deep yearning. With the help of scholarships, she enrolled at Mitchell Hamline. Attending law school, she says, \u201callows me to serve my country in the way I always felt I was meant to serve, through the law. And gave my soul a home.\u201d Vats-Fournier is studying intellectual property litigation and international business law part-time and will graduate in the spring<\/p>\n
Law school wouldn\u2019t have been possible for Vats-Fournier without scholarships. Recently, speaking on behalf of all student scholarship recipients, she said, \u201cReceiving a scholarship and being able to pursue our dreams transforms our lives. We would not be able to pursue our dreams in the way that we want if it weren\u2019t for the generosity and the selflessness of those who make it possible for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
At Mitchell Hamline, Vats-Fournier is on the team representing the law school in the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition based in Vienna, Austria. She is a student member of the Warren E.\u00a0 Burger Inns of Court and the law student liaison to the Minnesota Mother Attorneys Association. She has served as a judicial extern and as a summer associate at Merchant and Gould.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
