\n\u201cI am proud to be in the first cohort of Hybrid Program law students who will be obtaining , Health Law and Health Care Compliance certificates through the Health Law Institute. Within two years, I have been given tremendous opportunities and achieved more than I could have imagined.<\/p>\n

Rebecca Stepan<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cIn partnership with the Minnesota Justice Foundation, I have already logged more than 100 hours of learning and serving clients with Minnesota Children’s Dental Services and\u00a0Lindquist & Vennum. Never did I think that in just two years of law school I would be assisting with research and policy proposals for the Minnesota legislature, as well\u00a0writing memorandums and putting together complex legal\u00a0arguments for human trafficking\u00a0cases. This summer, we have been successful in two trafficking cases and are applying for two additional. It is very rewarding work and making a huge difference for these victims in the Midwest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis summer my role as the Director for Quality, Regulatory & Research Practice at the University of Minnesota Health Solid Organ Transplant Service Line\u00a0transitioned to becoming responsible for implementing a surveillance program.\u00a0I was given the opportunity to lead the design of and build a robust compliance\u00a0program–in accordance with what I have learned in Professor Colombo’s Health Care Compliance Institute course. This, too, has been very rewarding and I would never have thought in such a short time I could take on this work. Further,\u00a0I wrote an abstract which was accepted for national presentation in October 2016\u00a0at the National Transplantation Quality Institute in Denver, Colorado. This conference will be attended by nearly 500 professionals across the U.S.\u00a0I have been invited to present this innovative work so that other transplant centers can emulate the robust compliance practices we are putting into place here in Minnesota. A key to the success in my argument and abstract is leadership which has had legal education and compliance training.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
