\nDoug Blanke of the Public Health Law Center was quoted in the Feb. 9, 2016 Wall Street Journal (\u201cSaltshaker Warnings Get Their Day in Court\u201d) and the Feb. 15, 2016 Star Tribune (\u201cSalt Shaker Emoji Sparks a Menu Fight Over Free Speech\u201d) about litigation challenging a new food safety warning in New York, where restaurants must display a salt shaker icon next to those menu items containing more sodium than is recommended in an entire day. The Center filed an amicus brief in the case, on behalf of the American Heart Association and others. The law was upheld by the trial court on February 24, and the National Restaurant Association — the \u201cNRA\u201d — has appealed.

\nProfessor Laura Hermer gave an invited Grand Rounds presentation to the Mayo’s Department of Anesthesiology in Rochester, MN.
