Today, the\u00a0group has nearly 3,000 members and is considered the country&#8217;s leading independent organization producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and improve the law.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11509\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/10\/Sandeen_Sharon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11509\" class=\"wp-image-11509 size-medium\" src=\"\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/10\/Sandeen_Sharon-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"sandeen_sharon\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-11509\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Professor Sharon Sandeen<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sandeen, director of <a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/intellectual-property-institute\/\">Mitchell Hamline&#8217;s Intellectual Property Institute<\/a>, is an internationally recognized expert in trade secret law and co-wrote the <a href=\"http:\/\/store.westacademic.com\/s.nl\/it.A\/id.712\/.f\">first casebook on trade secret law<\/a> in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am excited to join ALI because of its important and long-standing work in the area of\u00a0trade secret law,&#8221; Sandeen said. &#8220;I hope to contribute to ALI\u2019s further study of trade secret related issues, including employee loyalty, invention ownership, and non-compete agreements.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sandeen began her full-time teaching career in 2002 at Hamline University School of Law, one of Mitchell Hamline&#8217;s predecessor schools. Before becoming a professor, Sandeen practiced law for more than 15 years in Sacramento, Calif., first as a general business and IP litigator and later as an intellectual property specialist.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell Hamline law professor <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/biographies\/person\/michael-k-steenson\/\">Michael\u00a0Steenson<\/a><\/strong>, a member of ALI himself, nominated Sandeen for membership in the group.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black\">&#8220;Professor Sandeen is an outstanding legal scholar who will be a significant contributor to the work of the American Law Institute,&#8221; Steenson said. &#8220;She is highly deserving of this honor.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In addition to Steenson and Sandeen, there are a number of members of the Mitchell Hamline community who belong to ALI.
