Join the Law Review
Selection
The Editorial Board of the Law Review begins recruiting in April of each year. After the conclusion of spring semester, the Board selects new members through participation in the write-on process.
The write-on process is open to all students who have completed at least one full year of law school, are in good academic standing, and can serve as a new member for at least one academic year. Students must compose a case note based upon a pre-selected judicial decision in one of six doctrinal areas: Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law, Property, or Torts. Students must also complete a Bluebook quiz, which they submit along with their case note. The Editorial Board chooses its staff based upon the combined scores.
This recorded Q&A session from 2020 provides an overview of the Law Review and write-on process.
Participation and Credit
Working on the Law Review gives students the opportunity to become active participants in commentary central to the American legal culture. Associates also develop superior writing, research, and editorial skills.
Each year, associates write their own article and help prepare other authors’ articles for publication. Associates receive academic credit (3 credits) for work on the Law Review. Finally, associates have the opportunity to satisfy the Advanced Research and Writing Requirement (the “long paper”).
