There will be three topics to choose from with two-hour time slots to fill.<\/p>\n<p>For more information and\/or to volunteer, contact Sue McKenzie at <a href=\"mailto:sue.mckenzie@mitchellhamline.edu\">sue.mckenzie@mitchellhamline.edu<\/a> by Aug. 16, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Client interview<\/h2>\n<p>The volunteer will portray a new client for the students to interview. After the completion of the interview, the volunteer will provide feedback regarding the students\u2019 narrative probing and listening skills, empathy and building rapport with the client.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Sept. 3 at 9-11 am, 11 am-1 pm, and 1-3 pm<\/li>\n<li>Sept. 4 at 6-8 pm and 8-10 pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Motion hearing<\/h2>\n<p>The volunteer will serve as the judge. The judge will not rule on the motion but will provide feedback regarding the persuasiveness and completeness of the students\u2019 argument.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Oct. 22 at 9-11 am, 11 am-1 pm, and 1-3 pm<\/li>\n<li>Oct. 23 at 6-8 pm and 8-10 pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Preparing a legislative staffer<\/h2>\n<p>The volunteer will serve as the legislative staffer. The students will present an issue to the staffer and advocate as to why their position on the issue should be part of the legislator\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Nov. 12 at 9-11 am, 11 am-1 pm, and 1-3 pm<\/li>\n<li>Nov. 13 at 6-8 pm and 8-10 pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Volunteers will be provided with training materials.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers can use their Mitchell Hamline volunteer time as pro bono hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Volunteers wanted for fall semester We\u2019re seeking volunteers to help law students practice their advocacy skills during the fall 2024 semester.
