In 1939, the legislature created the office of the revisor of statutes to compile and publish the state’s laws.[1] In 1947, the legislature also directed the office to draft bills for the legislature, the governor, and the various departments of government.[2] In 1980, the legislature directed the revisor to provide drafting and editing services for administrative rules.[3] Drafting and editing remain principal functions of the office.
