The daylong six-credit CLE will be held from 8 am &#8211; 3 pm at <a href=\"http:\/\/ablebeer.com\/\">Able Seedhouse + Brewery<\/a> in Northeast Minneapolis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/activedata.mitchellhamline.edu\/EventRegistration.aspx?Rid=716&amp;Iid=147310&amp;Frm\">Register here.<\/a>\u00a0Current Mitchell Hamline students need to register but can attend for free by registering with discount code MHSL Student.<\/p>\n<p>The event will feature five panel discussions based on Law Review articles on the intersection of law, business, and the role legal education plays in training future business leaders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8 am<\/strong> Breakfast<\/p>\n<p><strong>8:30 am<\/strong> Opening remarks<\/p>\n<p><strong>8:45 am<\/strong> \u00a0Panel discussion: Craft Beer &#8211;\u00a0<strong>Jeff O\u2019Brien &#8217;00 (WMCL) <\/strong>with\u00a0the firm\u00a0Lommen Abdo has more than 50 craft brewery clients in Minnesota and will use his\u00a0extensive experience in brewery law to explore the three-tier distribution system of alcohol. The panel discussion will be based on O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s symposium article <em>The Craft Brewing Boom And Minnesota\u2019s Three-Tier\u00a0<\/em><em>System: The Case For Change.<\/em>\u00a0In it, he\u00a0explains how Minnesota law could adapt to create more opportunities for craft breweries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9:45 am<\/strong> Panel discussion: Adding Value to Business &#8211;\u00a0Zachary Atherton-Ely is associate general counsel at Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures, which operates Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley. MLCV handles the Mille Lacs Band&#8217;s business operations, including several hotels, resorts, and various small businesses. The panel discussion will be based on his symposium article\u00a0<em>Demonstrating Value to a Corporation as General Counsel.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>10:45 am\u00a0<\/strong>Break<\/p>\n<p><strong>10:55 am <\/strong>Panel discussion: Lawyer as Entrepreneur &#8211;\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Harrell-Latham &#8217;06 (WMCL)\u00a0<\/strong>of Loop Legal\u00a0created an app to help businesses navigate\u00a0the process of hiring contingent workers. The discussion will be based on Harrell-Latham&#8217;s symposium article <em>Think Like a Lawyer, Act Like a Mogul: Tackling\u00a0<\/em><em>Practical Business Problems in a Changing Legal Landscape,\u00a0<\/em>in which\u00a0she examines the law around working with freelancers, independent contractors, and consultants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noon\u00a0<\/strong>Lunch and keynote &#8211;\u00a0Keith Lee is the founder of Associate&#8217;s Mind, one of the most popular legal blogs in the United States. In 2013, Lee\u00a0wrote <em>The Marble and The Sculptor: From Law School to Law Practice,\u00a0<\/em>an ABA bestseller. Lee\u00a0currently practices law at Hamer Law Group in Birmingham, Ala.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12:50 pm\u00a0<\/strong>Panel discussion: Crowdfunding &#8211;\u00a0<strong>Zach Robins &#8217;08 (WMCL) <\/strong>of\u00a0Winthrop &amp; Weinstine\u00a0authored the legislation behind the MNVest Securities Registration Exemption, or MNVest. The measure legalized equity-based crowdfunding in Minnesota. Robins&#8217; symposium article,\u00a0<em>MNVest and Equity-Based<\/em> <em>Crowdfunding<\/em>, was written with Tim Joyce of the University of Minnesota Law School. It looks at empirical data from recent crowdfunding efforts to suggest the ideal crowdfunding offering\u00a0from both a legal and business standpoint.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1:50 pm<\/strong>\u00a0Panel discussion:\u00a0Legal Education and Business &#8211;\u00a0<strong>Leanne Fuith &#8217;10 (WMCL),<\/strong>\u00a0dean of career and professional development at Mitchell Hamline\u00a0School of Law, will explore the changing legal job market and the various opportunities for law students outside of traditional legal careers.
