{"id":13857,"date":"2018-06-29T05:02:43","date_gmt":"2018-06-29T10:02:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/news\/?p=13857"},"modified":"2018-06-29T11:14:11","modified_gmt":"2018-06-29T16:14:11","slug":"prominent-twin-cities-attorney-clifford-greene-to-join-mitchell-hamline-faculty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/news\/2018\/06\/29\/prominent-twin-cities-attorney-clifford-greene-to-join-mitchell-hamline-faculty\/","title":{"rendered":"Prominent Twin Cities attorney Clifford Greene to join Mitchell Hamline faculty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well-known Minneapolis attorney <strong>Clifford Greene<\/strong> will bring four decades of courtroom experience to the classroom when he joins the Mitchell Hamline faculty as a Distinguished Practitioner in Residence.<\/p>\n<p>Greene, who co-founded the Minneapolis law firm <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greeneespel.com\/\">Greene Espel<\/a> PLLP 25 years ago, will teach civil procedure when the fall semester begins in August.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-13862 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/06\/square_cliff-from-website-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/06\/square_cliff-from-website-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/06\/square_cliff-from-website.jpg 596w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always dreamed that someday I would return to the classroom and share what I\u2019ve learned in the practice of law,\u201d Greene said.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell Hamline President and Dean <strong>Mark C. Gordon<\/strong> is looking forward to what the well-regarded litigator will bring to the school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted and honored that someone of Cliff Greene\u2019s incredible stature in the Twin Cities legal community has agreed to join us and share his years of wisdom and experience with our students,\u201d Gordon said.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t Greene\u2019s first time in the classroom. He took two sabbaticals from practicing law in the 1980s and \u201890s to teach at Mitchell Hamline predecessor William Mitchell College of Law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCliff Greene is the best teacher I ever had,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Martha M. Simonett \u201984<\/strong>, a judge in Minnesota\u2019s First Judicial District who took a number of classes from Greene in the early 1980s. \u201cThat education has never left me. I address a problem as I learned it in Cliff Greene\u2019s torts class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Greene has built a successful career focusing on civil litigation, public sector representation, and alternative dispute resolution.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of Harvard College and Cornell Law School, Greene will continue to be a member of Greene Espel but plans to leave the day-to-day oversight of most client matters and firm administration to his colleagues to focus on teaching.<\/p>\n<p>Greene said he\u2019s excited to join Mitchell Hamline\u2019s faculty and is looking forward to sharing \u201ca whole lifetime of courtroom anecdotes and litigation experience\u201d with students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well-known Minneapolis attorney Clifford Greene will bring four decades of courtroom experience to the classroom when he joins the Mitchell Hamline faculty as a Distinguished Practitioner in Residence.
