We know how to pretend to be not racist. Now let\u2019s know how to be antiracist.\u201d \u2013 Dr. Ibram X. Kendi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Historian and antiracist scholar Ibram X. Kendi will join an online event at Mitchell Hamline on February 15 at 5 pm CST to discuss his work in antiracism scholarship. His presentation is titled &#8220;How To Be An Antiracist Law School and Legal Profession.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kendi is the author of six award-winning and bestselling books, including \u201cHow to be an Antiracist.\u201d \u00a0His latest work, which he co-edited, is \u201cFour Hundred Souls,\u201d a history of African Americans as told through the contributions of \u00a090 leading Black voices. That book will be released in early February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re honored to be welcoming Professor Kendi to Mitchell Hamline,\u201d said President and Dean Anthony Niedwiecki. \u201cHis groundbreaking work is helping change the narrative in the efforts to undo the lasting legacies of slavery and white supremacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not enough to be committed to diversity and equity. We also must be actively antiracist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibramxkendi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kendi<\/a> is founding director of the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University. He was awarded the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The February 15\u00a0event, sponsored by Mitchell Hamline School of Law, the Intellectual Property Institute at Mitchell Hamline, and the firm Contreras &amp; Metelska, is open to all Mitchell Hamline students, faculty, staff, and alumni.<\/p>\n<p>There will be opportunities to submit questions in advance and also during the program.<\/p>\n<p>The program is free.
