The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the 1978 Indian Child Welfare Act in a 7-2 opinion.<\/p>\n

Professor Angelique EagleWoman (Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate), director of Mitchell Hamline’s Native American Law and Sovereignty Institute<\/a>, had long followed the cases<\/a> through the courts that ended up at the Supreme Court. She offered legal analysis in several media reports this week about the case and the court’s decision.<\/p>\n
