Assistant Professor of Law Eleanor Frisch<\/p><\/div>\n

Having a strong sense of justice and being skilled at argumentation are what first led Eleanor Frisch (they\/she) to a career in law, but it is a much deeper passion that has turned her now to teaching\u2014a love for the written word.<\/p>\n

Frisch joined the Mitchell Hamline faculty on July 1 as an assistant professor of law, one of two faculty positions added for the 2025-26 academic year. Their primary teaching responsibilities will be in legal writing.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving solid legal writing skills is the foundation to being a good lawyer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Raised by parents who were both English professors, Frisch grew up with an appreciation for the written word. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in English and Spanish from Trinity University in San Antonio, Tex., and her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. They have since gained a decade of experience in litigation and legal writing, especially in the federal courts.<\/p>\n

Frisch most recently served as of counsel with Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll. They previously worked for Apollo Law, Wilson Law Group, and Nichols Kaster on a wide variety of class action and federal cases including employment, consumer protection, employee benefits, immigration, and more at both the district and appellate levels.<\/p>\n

Even though she has been able to use her writing skills in her career, Frisch still couldn\u2019t get enough. In their free time, they\u2019ve led fiction writing critique groups for years and have seen real results from the writers they\u2019ve helped.<\/p>\n

When she was in law school, Frisch always appreciated when her professors had real-world experience as lawyers that she could draw from. She is excited to provide just that to her students at Mitchell Hamline\u2014through experience both as a litigator and long-time writing coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m also really passionate about issues related to disability and accessibility in the legal profession,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Frisch was a founding board member of the Minnesota Disability Bar Association, the second state-level disability bar association in the country, and she currently serves as the group\u2019s treasurer. They are a scholar and frequent CLE speaker about issues related to employment discrimination, legal writing, and accessibility in the legal profession.<\/p>\n
