{"id":324,"date":"2023-05-18T14:04:25","date_gmt":"2023-05-18T14:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/policies\/?post_type=policy&#038;p=324"},"modified":"2023-09-06T11:01:29","modified_gmt":"2023-09-06T16:01:29","slug":"change-management-policy","status":"publish","type":"policy","link":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/policies\/policy\/change-management-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Change Management Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>1.0 Background and Purpose<\/h2>\n<p>The purpose of the Mitchell Hamline School of Law (MHSL) Change Management\/Control Policy is to establish the rules for the creation, evaluation, implementation, and tracking of changes made to MHSL Information Resources.<\/p>\n<h3>1.1 Who Needs to Know?<\/h3>\n<p>The MHSL Change Management\/Control Policy applies to any individual, entity, or process that create, evaluate, and\/or implement changes to MHSL Information Resource.<\/p>\n<h2>2.0 Policy<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Changes to production MHSL Information Resources must be documented and classified according to their:\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Importance,<\/li>\n<li>Urgency,<\/li>\n<li>Impact, and<\/li>\n<li>Complexity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Change documentation must include, at a minimum:\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Date of submission and date of change,<\/li>\n<li>Owner and custodian contact information,<\/li>\n<li>Nature of the change,<\/li>\n<li>Change requestor,<\/li>\n<li>Change classification(s),<\/li>\n<li>Roll-back plan,<\/li>\n<li>Change approver,<\/li>\n<li>Change implementer, and<\/li>\n<li>An indication of success or failure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Changes with a significant potential impact to MHSL Information Resources must be scheduled.<\/li>\n<li>MHSL Information Resource owners must be notified of changes that affect the systems they are responsible for.<\/li>\n<li>Authorized change windows must be established for changes with a high potential impact.<\/li>\n<li>Changes with a significant potential impact and\/or significant complexity must have usability, security, and impact testing and back out plans included in the change documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Change control documentation must be maintained in accordance with the MHSL\u00a0Data Retention Schedule.<\/li>\n<li>Changes made to MHSL customer environments and\/or applications must be communicated to customers, in accordance with governing agreements and\/or contracts.<\/li>\n<li>All changes must be approved by the Information Resource Owner, CIO\/Director of Information Technology.<\/li>\n<li>Emergency changes (i.e. break\/fix, incident response, zero day threats etc.) may be implemented immediately and complete the change control process retroactively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.0 Background and Purpose The purpose of the Mitchell Hamline School of Law (MHSL) Change Management\/Control Policy is to establish the rules for the creation, evaluation, implementation, and tracking of changes made to MHSL Information Resources. 1.1 Who Needs to Know?
