As such, the School provides students with channels to submit complaints and grievances that are addressed in a timely manner and by appropriate parties.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Contents<\/h3>\n<ul type=\"A\">\n<li><a href=\"#disability\">A. Whistleblower policy<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Resolution through direct contact<\/h3>\n<p>Whenever possible, students should first seek to resolve the issue in question by directly contacting the other party. Either in writing or verbally, specifically describe the concern or source of conflict as well as the desired resolution.<\/p>\n<p>In cases where direct contact is inappropriate or does not resolve the situation, students should use one of the channels below.<\/p>\n<h3>Channels for reporting complaints and grievances<\/h3>\n<p>The types of concerns are described below in the relevant sections. Students should select the channel that seems most appropriate to the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Once a concern is addressed, students may not always know the outcome. However, when appropriate, information regarding the resolution of an investigation may be shared.<\/p>\n<p>Some reports may be made anonymously, others may not. Disability discrimination grievance<\/h4>\n<a class=\"button button-pdf\" href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/catalog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/63\/2021\/04\/MHSL-Disability-Discrimination-Grievance-Policy-Form-a.pdf\" target=\"\">Disability Discrimination Grievance Form&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/a>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.mitchellhamline.edu\/disability-discrimination-grievance-process-policy\" rel=\"noopener\">Process steps can be found in the Mitchell Hamline Catalog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell Hamline School of Law has adopted the <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.mitchellhamline.edu\/disability-discrimination-grievance-process-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Disability Discrimination Grievance Process Policy<\/a> to provide prompt and equitable resolution of grievances alleging action prohibited by the ADA and\/or Section 504. Any student who believes that they have been subjected to discrimination on the basis of disability or have been denied access or accommodations required by law, may submit a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/catalog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/63\/2021\/04\/MHSL-Disability-Discrimination-Grievance-Policy-Form-a.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Preliminary Disability Grievance Form<\/a> to <a href=\"mailto:disabilityservices@mitchellhamline.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">diabilityservices@mitchellhamline.edu<\/a> or to the Manager of Disability and Student Services, Mitchell Hamline School of Law, 875 Summit Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota 55105<\/p>\n<p>If the grievance is against the Director of Disability and Student Services, students should instead submit the form to the Dean of Students.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"bias\">B. Bias incident reporting<\/h4>\n<a class=\"button button-apply\" href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/student-complaint-and-grievance-process\/bias-reporting-form\/\" target=\"\">Bias Incident Reporting Form&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/a>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/policies\/policy\/bias-incident-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Process steps can be found in the Mitchell Hamline Policy Repository<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bias Incident refers to unintentional or intentional action taken that one could reasonably conclude is motivated, in whole or in part, by the alleged offender\u2019s bias against an actual or perceived aspect of one\u2019s protected class, including actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex\/gender, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, familial (or parental) status, disability, status with regard to public assistance, sexual orientation, age, family care leave status or veteran status or any other protected class defined by law. Bias incidents include expressions of all kinds, which could include, but are not limited to, words, actions, signs, or symbols.<\/p>\n<p>Students who wish to report a bias incident may do so via the\u00a0<u><\/u><a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/student-complaint-and-grievance-process\/bias-reporting-form\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bias Incident Reporting Form<\/a>. Students may choose to remain anonymous when submitting a bias incident report.<\/p>\n<p>Definitions, reporting procedures, and more information can be found in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/policies\/policy\/bias-incident-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bias Incident Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"discrimination\">C. Non-discrimination and non-harassment policy<\/h4>\n<p><a class=\"button button-info\" href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/student-complaint-and-grievance-process\/non-discrimination-non-harassment-reporting-process\/\" target=\"\">Non-Discrimination and Non-Harassment Reporting Process&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/a><br \/>\nMitchell Hamline School of Law is committed to providing a working and learning environment free from discrimination or harassment. Accordingly, discrimination or harassment perpetrated on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex\/gender, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, familial (or parental) status, disability, status with regard to public assistance, sexual orientation, age, family care leave status or veteran status or any other protected class defined by law (\u201cdiscrimination or harassment\u201d) is prohibited and will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n<p>Reports of discrimination or harassment can be made online via the <a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/title-ix\/sex-discrimination-and-sexual-harassment-reporting-form\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sexual Misconduct\/Sexual Harassment\/Discrimination\/Harassment Reporting Form<\/a>. Reports may be made anonymously; however, the reporter is encouraged to provide as much information as possible. Student code of conduct<\/h4>\n<a class=\"button button-info\" href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/student-complaint-and-grievance-process\/student-code-of-conduct-reporting-process\/\" target=\"\">Student Code of Conduct Reporting Process&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/a>\n<p>As responsible members of the community, Mitchell Hamline School of Law students are expected to maintain the highest ideals of academic, professional, and social conduct. Students are expected to respect the views and personal dignity of other members of the law school community. They are responsible for knowing and abiding by the rules and policies published in the Catalog.<\/p>\n<p>Any person may initiate a disciplinary proceeding under the rules outlined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/catalog\/student-conduct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Code of Conduct<\/a> by sending the Dean, by email, a signed, written complaint. In the complaint, the Complainant shall state the essential facts alleged to constitute a violation of the Code, including (a) the name of the student alleged to have committed the violation (the \u201cRespondent\u201d), (b) the specific allegation(s), and (c) the factual basis for the allegation(s).<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"sexual\">E.\u00a0Sex discrimination and sexual harassment policies<\/h4>\n<a class=\"button button-apply\" href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/title-ix\/sex-discrimination-and-sexual-harassment-reporting-form\/\" target=\"\">Sex Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Reporting Form&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/a>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/title-ix\/reporting-sex-discrimination-and-sexual-harassment\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Process steps and more reporting procedures and may be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mitchell Hamline School of Law does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, as required by Title IX and its regulations, including in admission and employment.\u00a0 Sex discrimination includes sexual harrassment and sexual assault. Hate crime policy<\/h4>\n<a class=\"button button-info\" href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/student-complaint-and-grievance-process\/hate-crime-report-process\/\" target=\"\">Hate Crime Reporting Process&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/a>\n<p>Hate Crimes are criminal acts\u2014or attempted criminal acts\u2014against an individual or group of individuals because of their actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex\/gender, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, age, disability, status with regard to public assistance, sexual orientation, or veteran status or any other protected classes defined by law.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who believes that they are the victim of a hate crime or have been physically threatened, or if they believe they have witnessed a hate crime or have witnessed someone being physically threatened, whether on or off campus, should call 9-1-1 or Campus Security.
