{"id":670,"date":"2016-10-25T15:07:19","date_gmt":"2016-10-25T20:07:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/student-finances\/?page_id=670"},"modified":"2025-07-17T11:01:21","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T16:01:21","slug":"cashnet-frequently-asked-questions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/student-finances\/cashnet-frequently-asked-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"Transact (formerly CASHNet\u00ae) Frequently Asked Questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"accordion-wrapper\">\n<h3 class=\"accordion-title\">Security<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"accordion\">\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">What is Mitchell Hamline doing to protect my Transact account information?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>Transact abides by the security of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCIDSS).\u00a0 Please click on: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcisecuritystandards.org\/index.php\">PCI Security<\/a>\u00a0for additional information on PCIDSS.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">How can I be sure my Transact information is secure?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>There are several ways to make sure your Transact information is secure.\u00a0 You should always make sure your transactions are done in a secure setting (if you are using a public computer, remember to sign out and close all open browsing windows), and you should never leave your computer logged into Transact when you are not using it.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, students and authorized account users should not let anyone else log into your Transact account with your account ID and password.\u00a0 Parents or Benefactors should login <em>only<\/em>\u00a0with their Benefactor ID you create for them, <strong><em>DO NOT<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0share your login or password with anyone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">Can my Authorized Account User\/Benefactor see my bank account number?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>No one else can see your saved accounts information and\u00a0students cannot see your Benefactor&#8217;s saved accounts information.\u00a0 Benefactors can see payment information, but the full account numbers are not visible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">Who has access to my Transact account?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>Only users that are set-up in the Authorized Account User section of your Transact login will have access to view your account and make payments on your behalf.\u00a0\u00a0Students are responsible for adding\/removing Authorized Users\/Benefactors from their account and will assign user names and passwords to each Benefactor.\u00a0 If one of your Benefactors has forgotten their name and\/or password, the student will be responsible for providing them with their user name or resetting their password (we <em>cannot<\/em>\u00a0reset student PINs\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong>\u00a0Benefactor passwords in the Finance Office).<\/p>\n<p>It is more secure if you do not let others process transactions using your login. Sharing a login can result in access to bank account or credit card information you may not wish to share with the other person. Students should only access Transact using their own login, and should provide a unique Benefactor login to each Benefactor they wish to have access.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">Can I give my parents access to my Transact account?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>Yes, you may set your parents up as Benefactors in the Authorized Account User section of your Transact login. Benefactors can login at any time to make payments on the account or view recent activity.\u00a0 Benefactor financial information will be secured to their unique login (saved account information will only be viewable by the Benefactor).<\/p>\n<p>Benefactors may change their password or email address in their own login at any time and if a Benefactor on your account forgets their login, you will need to provide it to them (you will also have to perform any password resets your Benefactors may need).<\/p>\n<p>Any Benefactors on your account will be listed in the Authorized Account User section of your Transact login. You can add or remove Benefactors as often and whenever you would like.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-wrapper\">\n<h3 class=\"accordion-title\">Electronic Payments<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"accordion\">\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">How do I pay with a credit card or electronic check?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">Credit\/Debit cards and ePayments (electronic check payments) can only be processed through Transact.\u00a0 Please review the <a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/student-finances\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2025\/07\/About-CASHNet-updated-2.12.24.pdf\">About Transact (formerly CASHNet )<\/a> tutorial for step-by-step instructions.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">I am in Transact, but how do I make an ePayment?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<ol class=\"default\">\n<li>From the Transact overview\/landing page, select \u2018Make a Payment\u2019 from either the left-hand menu, or select the oval button at the bottom of the page.<\/li>\n<li>If you have an A\/R balance, then the system will display what your current balance and you can enter an amount to pay all or a portion of your balance.<\/li>\n<li>If you don\u2019t have an A\/R balance, select \u2018Make a Payment\u2019 and then select \u2018View All\u2019 if the item you want to purchase isn\u2019t displayed.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the item you want to purchase (modify quantity if applicable) and then click \u2018Add to Payment\u2019.\u00a0 Select more items to purchase and when complete scroll to bottom of page and select \u2018Continue\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the ePayment Information. If paying by eCheck\/ACH you will need to provide your bank routing number &amp; bank account number (no fees charged).\u00a0 If paying by credit\/debit card you will need card information &amp; fees will be assessed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>*If you have questions about how to identify your account and\/or routing number for an eCheck, please view the Transact examples on the site or contact your banking institution for assistance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion-wrapper\">\n<h3 class=\"accordion-title\">Credit Cards and Debit Cards<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"accordion\">\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">What credit cards are accepted by Mitchell Hamline at the Transact site?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are all accepted by Mitchell Hamline through Transact.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">Can I use my debit card to make a payment?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>Yes, however debit card payments will be processed as a &#8220;credit card&#8221; transaction. <strong><em>Do not<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0attempt to enter your debit card information as an ePayment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">What is the credit\/debit card convenience fee?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>The customer who uses the credit\/debit card service will pay 2.85% convenience fee (note that the convenience fee will increase to 2.95% starting on July 1, 2024) for domestic payments, and 4.25% for internationals credit and debit cards.\u00a0 Starting on July 5, 2023 the minimum convenience fee for card transactions over $20 and less than $106 will be $3. Please note, there are no fees for eCheck payments or eRefunds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\">\n<h4 class=\"accordion-item-title\">Why does Mitchell Hamline charge a convenience fee?<\/h4>\n<div class=\"accordion-item-body\">\n<p>The convenience (merchant) fee is actually assessed by the credit card companies (Mitchell Hamline does not make any money on these fees).\u00a0 Each time a credit\/debit card is used the credit card company assesses a convenience fee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Security What is Mitchell Hamline doing to protect my Transact account information?
