{"id":38896,"date":"2019-10-07T10:35:14","date_gmt":"2019-10-07T15:35:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/?p=38896"},"modified":"2019-10-07T10:35:14","modified_gmt":"2019-10-07T15:35:14","slug":"apply-for-rosalie-wahl-moot-court-by-10-20-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/2019\/10\/07\/apply-for-rosalie-wahl-moot-court-by-10-20-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply for Rosalie Wahl Moot Court by 10\/20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><u><sub>Competition Information and Schedule:<\/sub><\/u><sub>\u00a0\u00a0Rosalie Wahl Moot Court\u00a0is an intra-school competition that focuses on current\/undecided legal issues that students present to the United States Supreme Court. \u00a0It is modeled after the New York City Bar National Moot Court program. \u00a0The RWMC program is distributed in late-December (after finals) and includes a statement of facts, district court opinion, and court of appeals opinion. \u00a0Students are paired into teams of two, and prepare a brief to the United States Supreme Court (due in March) and present oral arguments during the competition (late March to early April). \u00a0The coaches teach two brief writing classes and one oral argument class during the spring semester. \u00a0The oral argument competition is held on a Saturday morning and two to three weekday evenings at Mitchell Hamline. \u00a0Based on their performance in RWMC, six students are selected to participate in the National Moot Court program in the following fall semester.<\/sub><\/p>\n<p><u><sub>Selection Process:<\/sub><\/u><sub>\u00a0\u00a0Interested students should send the coaches\u00a0a short statement via email about why the student is interested in participating in RWMC\u00a0and a copy of either their first-year Lawyering Motion Practice Memorandum or their Advocacy Appellate Brief. \u00a0The writing sample may be revised from what students submitted for that class, but all of the work must be their own. \u00a0<strong>Applications are due no later than October 20, 2019.<\/strong> \u00a0All interested 2L and 3L students are encouraged to apply. \u00a0The coaches will review the submissions and select participants prior to spring semester registration. \u00a0Participants will receive two credits for the competition.<\/sub><\/p>\n<p><u><sub>Coaches\/Inquiries:<\/sub><\/u><sub>\u00a0\u00a0This competition is coached by John Monnens (&#8217;12) and Cory Monnens (&#8217;14). \u00a0Please feel free to reach out to\u00a0John\u00a0and\u00a0Cory\u00a0via email at <\/sub><a href=\"mailto:john.monnens@mitchellhamline.edu\"><sub>john.monnens@mitchellhamline.edu<\/sub><\/a><sub> or <\/sub><a href=\"mailto:corybeth.monnens@mitchellhamline.edu\"><sub>corybeth.monnens@mitchellhamline.edu<\/sub><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Competition Information and Schedule:\u00a0\u00a0Rosalie Wahl Moot Court\u00a0is an intra-school competition that focuses on current\/undecided legal issues that students present to the United States Supreme Court. \u00a0It is modeled after the New York City Bar National Moot Court program. \u00a0The RWMC program is distributed in late-December (after finals) and includes a statement of facts, district court &hellip;
