{"id":39881,"date":"2020-03-27T07:56:02","date_gmt":"2020-03-27T12:56:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/?p=39881"},"modified":"2020-03-27T07:56:02","modified_gmt":"2020-03-27T12:56:02","slug":"the-marshall-brennan-constitutional-literacy-project-mbp-is-now-accepting-applications-for-fall-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/2020\/03\/27\/the-marshall-brennan-constitutional-literacy-project-mbp-is-now-accepting-applications-for-fall-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"The Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project (MBP) is now accepting applications for Fall 2020!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project (MBP) is now accepting applications for Fall 2020!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The MBP is a <strong>4-credit letter-graded course<\/strong> at Mitchell Hamline School of Law which allows law students to teach Constitutional Law to Saint Paul Public Schools High School Students.<\/p>\n<p>If you are looking to get out of the law school classroom, learn the law in a <strong><em>unique and challenging way, develop skills<\/em><\/strong>that will make you a better lawyer, <strong><em>make a difference in the lives of youth in our community<\/em><\/strong>, and become a part of an <strong><em>exceptional program<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 that furthers constitutional literacy around the county, this program is for <strong>YOU<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>This dynamic and exciting program allows MBP Fellows to \u201ctake over\u201d a senior high government class for 9-weeks and teach about the 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 4<sup>th<\/sup> amendments.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2020, law students who are accepted into the program will participate in a teaching \u201cboot camp\u201d to prepare for the semester, as such, prior teaching experience is not required.<\/p>\n<p>Law students selected to be a MBP Fellow will follow a base curriculum, create lesson plans, conduct classes, and grade assignments. Fellows teach in the high school for approximately one-hour per day, five days per week, for nine weeks beginning in September of 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Coinciding with their high school placement, Fellows participate in a weekly seminar taught by Mitchell Hamline faculty. The weekly seminar focuses on constitutional law for high school students, including free speech for students and search and seizure in school.
