Topics to be covered include discussion of the Bostock and N.H. cases and their implications for transgender\u00a0individuals in the workplace and beyond. Be on the lookout for our call for speakers and conference registration information.<\/p>\n<p>An exciting part of this year\u2019s conference is our ability to access the programming on-demand even after the date of the conference! So, do not fear if you can\u2019t attend for all or part of the day, as your conference registration will ensure your access to all of the programming!<\/p>\n<p><strong>MLBA Strategic Engagement Committee Request for Member Participants<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Strategic Engagement Committee (&#8220;SEC&#8221;) of the MLBA is looking to add no more than three Law Student Liaisons to work directly with the Board. Please submit the following\u00a0before\u00a0<strong>October 17, 2020\u00a0<\/strong>to be considered for this opportunity: (1) indicate in writing your\u00a0interest in performing work along with the SEC Committee; (2) commit to going to regularly scheduled SEC meetings; (3) submit a resume and brief statement of interest (no more than 350 words) to the SEC Committee; (4) be voted in by a majority of the sitting, non-student liaison SEC Committee Members.<\/p>\n<p>Please submit your materials to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:annaliisa.gifford@mitchellhamline.edu\">annaliisa.gifford@mitchellhamline.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Description and Duties below:<\/p>\n<p>Student Liaisons of the Strategic Engagement Committee Description (\u201cSEC\u201d):<\/p>\n<ol class=\"default\">\n<li><strong><u>Definitions:<\/u><\/strong>\n<ol class=\"default\">\n<li><strong>\u201cMLBA Student Liaison\u201d\u00a0or \u201cStudent Liaisons\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>shall be defined as\u00a0a law student within any of the Minnesota law schools, who is an active at-large member of the MLBA, and who has been chosen to serve alongside the SEC Committee in advocating for the representation and professional growth of LGBTQIA+ law students.<\/li>\n<li>\u201c<strong>MLBA Mentorship Program\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>shall be defined as a Mentorship Program developed within the 2020-2021 MLBA year fostering the development of mentorship relationships between MLBA active members and attorneys and LGBTQIA+ law students in Minnesota.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>MLBA Student Liaison Description:<\/u><\/strong>Student Liaisons shall participate\u00a0directly within the SEC Committee meetings to advance and promote LGBTQIA+ law student concerns at Minnesota law schools as they arise. Student Liaisons will work alongside the SEC Committee in areas including but not limited to: advocating for the LGBTQIA+ legal community; working towards greater equity and representation of LGBTQIA+ law students through strategic engagement with law schools and legal organizations in the Twin Cities; and internally promoting the MLBA Mentorship Program within Minnesota law schools.<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Duties:<\/u><\/strong>\n<ol class=\"default\">\n<li>Report to the SEC Committee at all SEC regular and semi-regular meetings regarding what\u00a0Out!Law\u00a0student membership would like to see regarding\u00a0MLBA involvement, or regarding law student concerns as they arise at the law schools, specific to LGBTQIA+ individuals.<\/li>\n<li>Work with MLBA Board Members (specifically Charlie O\u2019Meara &amp; Annaliisa Gifford, as fellow law students) to develop a fully functioning and effective online MLBA Mentorship Program.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with any work delegated to them by the SEC Committee as appropriate and as needed\u00a0by the SEC Committee.<\/li>\n<li>Provide insight and\u00a0brainstorm along with the Committee\u00a0at regular SEC Committee meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>20th Annual MLBA Conference &#8211; Mark Your Calendars!
