Reminder: Target Corporation is seeking an extern from Mitchell Hamline during the Spring 2021 semester through its Diversity in Law Scholar\u2019s program. Deadline to apply is Monday, Jan. 11.<\/b><\/p>\n
During the externship, the selected student would be placed in Target\u2019s in-house legal department and gain exposure through observation and hands-on experience to a wide variety of law and business matters including business transactions, litigation management, advising and counseling business stakeholders, and research, writing, and analyzing key business and legal issues affecting Target, it\u2019s employees, and customers.<\/p>\n
Time Commitment:<\/b>\u00a0Students are expected to work up to 12-15 hours a week and must be available to work starting the first week of February 2021. Work will be remote to begin with, but the selected student must also be able to work on-site at Target\u2019s corporate offices in Minneapolis if the public health situation changes and it becomes safe to return to in-person work. Students must be able to provide their own reliable transportation to work.<\/p>\n
Eligibility:<\/b>\u00a0This program is open to an upper level Mitchell Hamline student (part-time or full-time) who is in good academic standing, has demonstrated leadership qualities and service to the community. Preference will be given to a law student from an underrepresented group, including racial\/ethnic background, sexual orientation, and disability.<\/span><\/div>\n
Academic Credit & Scholarship:<\/b>\u00a0Upon successful completion of the externship at the end of the spring semester, the selected student would receive academic credit for the externship. Target will also provide the selected student with a scholarship (financial stipend) intended to defray a small portion of the student\u2019s tuition expenses.<\/p>\n
Externship Registration:<\/b>\u00a0This externship is being offered for 4 academic credits and the selected student may enroll in an Independent Externship or the Law and Business Externship as the student\u2019s schedule permits. If the student is not able to allocate 4 credits to the externship, they may take it for a reduced number of credits as long as the student is able to complete the required number of work hours described above.<\/p>\n
