The program will focus on civics education in St. Paul Public Schools, including a discussion of the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>What does a civics education look like in St. Paul Public Schools?<\/li>\n<li>How do current events, state education standards, and legislation affect classrooms?<\/li>\n<li>How can, and does, civics education help develop future voters?<\/li>\n<li>How will the current revision process for civics education at the state level (part of the Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards for Social Studies) impact the curriculum?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The discussion will be held with a panel of educators, experts, and students, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Rebecca Biel, Social Studies Supervisor K-12, Office of Teaching and Learning<\/li>\n<li>Eric Erickson, Social Studies Teacher, Como Park High School<\/li>\n<li>Jaeden Sims, St. Paul Public School Student<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the interest of public health and safety, this will be a virtual event. The event will be available via Zoom and also will be shown on LWVSP&#8217;s Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p>Interested participants can register on Zoom at this link: https:\/\/zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_TZrbMpxSRR6KBBHHK99eDw<\/p>\n<p>More information is also available on the LWVSP website (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lwvsp.org\">www.lwvsp.org<\/a>).
