{"id":42227,"date":"2021-02-16T10:36:47","date_gmt":"2021-02-16T16:36:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/?p=42227"},"modified":"2021-02-16T10:36:47","modified_gmt":"2021-02-16T16:36:47","slug":"seeking-legislative-research-interns-spring-2021-spring-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/2021\/02\/16\/seeking-legislative-research-interns-spring-2021-spring-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeking Legislative Research Interns Spring 2021-Spring 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/02\/ABA-Ombuds-Cmte-Leg-Intern-1.pdf\">ABA Ombuds Cmte Leg Intern<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The ABA Ombuds Legislative Subcommittee is seeking law students to track legislative proposals and case law.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>The Legislative Research Intern would identify existing state case law and legislation that has the potential to impact ombuds work and provide a report on findings.<\/li>\n<li>Then the Intern would track new and existing legislative proposals as they make their way through the process and any court cases that could impact Ombuds work.<\/li>\n<li>This is a great opportunity to watch a bill become a law &#8211; or not, and learn about the process.<\/li>\n<li>The Intern would also have access to all ABA Ombuds Legislative Subcommittee meetings and would learn how different types of ombuds work.<\/li>\n<li>Most importantly, the Intern would learn about how laws and court cases impact people and their work in an ADR-focused profession.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> February 26<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact:<\/strong> Natalie Fleury, JD, Chair Legislative Subcommittee at <a href=\"mailto:nfleury@mcw.edu\">nfleury@mcw.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required:\u00a0<\/strong>Access to Westlaw or Lexis, Basic Research Skills<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours:\u00a0<\/strong>5-7 hours for initial search and documentation.
