\u00a0The U.S. Department of Justice just added a new Cyber Fellowship to the Attorney General\u2019s Honors Program (HP) this year. The three-year Cyber Fellowship will provide selected attorneys the opportunity to handle emerging national security and criminal cyber threats, while rotating through multiple Department components that protect the nation from cyber threats including the Criminal Division, the National Security Division, and the U.S. Attorneys Offices.<\/p>\n
Through this unique opportunity, Fellows will handle a broad range of the cyber cases handled by the Department to provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the Departments response to emerging and critical threats. Fellows can expect to investigate and prosecute state-sponsored cyber threats; transnational criminal groups; infrastructure and ransomware attacks; and the use of cryptocurrency and money laundering to finance and profit from cyber-based crimes.<\/p>\n
Incoming Fellows must agree to a three-year commitment to the program and be able to secure a Top Secret security clearance.\u00a0 All Fellows will be based in the Washington, D.C. area.\u00a0 Fellows may be extended or converted to permanent without further competition or reapply to the Honors Program in a subsequent year provided they meet eligibility criteria.\u00a0 Alternatively, as they approach the end of their three-year term, Fellows may apply to permanent positions within the Department that align with their interest.<\/p>\n
HOW TO APPLY: The Cyber Fellowship has been added to the online Honors Program application “Components of Interest” screen as an informal participant to permit interested applicants who have not yet submitted their application to apply. Honors Program applicants who wish to apply but already submitted an application, should simply follow these steps.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Log back in to their online account and, in the “Action” column, select the red “Withdraw” button.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The system will ask them to confirm that they want to withdraw their application.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Once they confirm, they can go back in to their application to make any changes necessary by clicking the “Continue Application” button in the upper right portion of the browser screen. \u00a0Be sure to select \u201csave and continue\u201d to retain changes.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0They MUST re-certify and re-submit their application prior to the application deadline – go through the same Certify & Submit process they did when first submitting their application.<\/p>\n
