{"id":44072,"date":"2021-09-17T14:05:41","date_gmt":"2021-09-17T19:05:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/?p=44072"},"modified":"2021-09-17T14:05:41","modified_gmt":"2021-09-17T19:05:41","slug":"north-high-school-buddy-program-volunteers-needed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mitchellhamline.edu\/students\/2021\/09\/17\/north-high-school-buddy-program-volunteers-needed\/","title":{"rendered":"North High School Buddy Program &#8211; Volunteers Needed!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What is the program?<\/strong>\u00a0Personal and individualized career &amp; college support between a North High School (NHS) Buddy and a College &amp; Career Center (CCC) Buddy from one of the Twin Cities law schools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do I do?*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><u>Law Student Volunteer:<\/u><\/strong><\/em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(Time Commitment: Minimum 50-hour commitment preferred)<\/p>\n<p>**MJF volunteer hours available**<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Assist a North High School student in navigating post-high school life skills.\u00a0(i.e., college\/trade preparation and planning, FAFSA application support, job search coaching,\u00a0budgeting,\u00a0and\u00a0apartment searching.)<\/li>\n<li>Reports NHS Buddy&#8217;s progress and career\/college plan to Graduate Volunteer Advisor.<\/li>\n<li><u>CCC Buddies do not provide legal advice.<\/u><\/li>\n<li>Directs questions re: potential legal advice to Attorney Volunteer.<\/li>\n<li>Presence. Attending on-campus TBP events (as permitted by COVID-19), typically Friday evenings from 4-6PM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong><u>Graduate Volunteer Advisor:<\/u><\/strong><\/em><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(Time commitment: bi-weekly)<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Assigned to a class (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) of Buddy pairings.<\/li>\n<li>Reports class progress to the program director in an end-of-month email report. (i.e. report number of pairings, engagement, and goals)<\/li>\n<li>Forward any legal clarification questions to Attorney Volunteer Advisor.<\/li>\n<li>Presence. Attending on-campus TBP events (as permitted by COVID-19), typically Friday evenings from 4-6PM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong><u>Attorney Volunteer Advisor:<\/u><\/strong><\/em><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(Time commitment: intermittently or as needed)<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>Assigned to a class (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) of Buddy pairings.<\/li>\n<li>Networking &amp; mentoring both law students and high school students.<\/li>\n<li>Reports outreach metrics &amp; program needs to the Graduate Buddy.<\/li>\n<li>Presence.
