Located in Washington, DC, the EAB\u2019s caseload consists primarily of appeals from permit decisions and administrative civil penalty decisions, as well as petitions for reimbursement of costs incurred in complying with cleanup orders issued under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA). Private parties may appeal an EAB decision in federal court. The <a href=\"https:\/\/yosemite.epa.gov\/oa\/EAB_Web_Docket.nsf\/General+Information\/About+the+Environmental+Appeals+Board?OpenDocument\">Judges on the EAB<\/a> sit in panels of three and make decisions by majority vote.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bi6gxh9e\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4e5rd\" data-offset-key=\"o6j1-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"o6j1-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"o6j1-0-0\"> Eight counsel and two administrative professionals provide support to the Judges. <a href=\"https:\/\/yosemite.epa.gov\/oa\/EAB_Web_Docket.nsf\">Learn more about the EAB<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bi6gxh9e\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4e5rd\" data-offset-key=\"6jh5f-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6jh5f-0-0\"><strong>Who Should Apply?<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bi6gxh9e\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4e5rd\" data-offset-key=\"3f3c2-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"3f3c2-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"3f3c2-0-0\">The Board seeks legal interns to assist both the Environmental Appeals Judges and Counsel to the Board to conduct legal research, analyze applicable law and the administrative record, draft legal memoranda, and prepare final decisions. In addition to excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills, the Board considers, among other things, an applicant\u2019s interest in environmental law, administrative law, public interest law, or appellate litigation. <em><strong>The Board will consider applications from first- and second-year law students for the summer; second-year and third-year students are eligible to work in the fall and winter\/spring semesters. Students must have U.S. citizenship.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bi6gxh9e\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4e5rd\" data-offset-key=\"1r8pa-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"1r8pa-0-0\"><strong>Are the Positions Paid? Are there Benefits?<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bi6gxh9e\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4e5rd\" data-offset-key=\"ffn57-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"ffn57-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ffn57-0-0\">Summer positions are paid.
