The National LGBTQ+ Bar Association and Foundation is excited to announce the establishment of a need-based grant available to graduating transgender and\/or nonbinary law graduates of color.\u00a0 The purpose of this grant is not only to assist 2022 trans\/nonbinary law graduates of color financially this upcoming summer, but also to ensure that they are fully welcomed and supported by the broader LGBTQ+ legal community as they move on to their post-graduation careers and networks.\u00a0 As you are aware, graduating law school, taking the Bar exam, and finding that first post-school legal job all in a short period of time can be daunting in and of itself. Our goal is to ease this burden for graduating transgender and\/or nonbinary law graduates of color as they take their immediate post-law school steps to enter the workforce and become one of your successful alumni.<\/p>\n

The 2022 Trans\/Nonbinary Law Graduates of Color Grant Fund will award three unrestricted $1,000 grants, to help offset the costs associated with the period of time between graduation and taking the Bar Exam\/employment. In addition, accepted grantees will also receive a 1-year free membership with the National LGBTQ+ Bar.\u00a0 (The Bar is also currently fundraising in the hope of offering additional grants beyond the initial three.) Applicants must meet all <\/strong>of the following criteria: 2022 U.S. law school graduate, trans and\/or nonbinary, person of color, and either registered to take a U.S. Bar exam in the summer of 2022 and\/or<\/strong> their first legal job does not start until September 1, 2022 or later.<\/p>\n
