Today\u2019s resources are:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jeenacho.com\/the-anxious-lawyer-book\/\">The Anxious Lawyer: An 8-Week Guide to a Joyful and Satisfying Law Practice Through Mindfulness and Meditation by Jeena Cho &amp; Karen Gifford<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Interest in meditation and mindfulness has skyrocketed in recent years, thanks largely to neuroimaging and the body of scientific research that has validated the many benefits of these practices. Sadly, the legal community has for the most part been left out, even though lawyers would clearly benefit from mindfulness. Many lawyers feel hesitant to try meditation, which can seem alien and inaccessible from the vantage point of a professional culture that places great value on logic and reason.<\/p>\n<p>Jeena Cho and Karen Gifford set out to help address this gap in\u00a0<i>The Anxious Lawyer<\/i>. Both Cho and Gifford began meditating as practicing attorneys and\u00a0have firsthand knowledge of the difficulties and rewards of legal practice. They\u00a0experienced how meditation and mindfulness practices support a more effective and enjoyable legal practice. Both also found unexpected rewards of meditation that go deeper: better self-understanding, more rewarding relationships and a deeper feeling of connection with the world.<\/p>\n<p><i>The Anxious Lawyer\u00a0<\/i>provides a straightforward 8-week introductory program on meditation and mindfulness, created by lawyers for lawyers. The program draws on examples from Cho and Gifford\u2019s professional and personal lives to create an accessible and enjoyable entry into practices that can reduce anxiety, improve focus and clarity, and enrich the quality of life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This book is available for checkout from the <a href=\"https:\/\/library.mitchellhamline.edu\/record=b598806\">Library<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.mitchellhamline.edu\/Wellness\/thriving-during-finals\">Stress Relief Videos<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Library&#8217;s Wellness Guide provides links to several live streams (including puppy and kitten cams!) that can help reduce your stress. Here are a few:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montereybayaquarium.org\/animals\/live-cams\">Monterey Bay Aquarium Live Cams<\/a> &#8211; A variety of exhibit live streams are available, including: aviary, coral reef, jellyfish, kelp forest, Monterey Bay, moon jellyfish, open sea, penguin, sea otter, and shark cams. They also include narrated feedings throughout the week.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/explore.org\/livecams\">explore.org Live Cams<\/a> &#8211; A vast collection of nature and animal live cam streams, including but not limited to: African wildlife, bears, birds, oceans, dogs, and cats.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/kitten.academy\/live-stream\">Kitten Academy Live Stream<\/a> &#8211; A 24-hour live stream of a cat foster home where you watch kittens get born, grow, and &#8220;graduate&#8221; once they are adopted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week we are highlighting wellness resources available to the Mitchell Hamline community.
