There are two issues on appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. These are typically health law issues intertwined with Constitutional or federal statutory issues. Typically, each student researches and writes one issue in the brief and then orally argues that same issue. Mitchell Hamline teams have repeatedly won cash awards over the past several years.

SCHEDULE:
Problem Released: August 4, 2022
Research & draft brief: August – September, 2022
Brief due: September 15, 2022
Oral arguments: September – October, 2022 (at least two 90-minute practices per week)
Competition: November 3 – 5, 2022 (including travel)
Done: Zero obligations after November 5

LOCATION: Carbondale, Illinois (competition)

SPONSORS: Southern Illinois University School of Law, American College of Legal Medicine, American Health Law Association

SKILLS:
Legal writing
Oral advocacy
Appellate advocacy
Health Law is not necessary

COACHES:
Professor Thaddeus Pope
Attorney Joseph Van Thomme

TEAM: 2 students

CREDITS: 2 credits in Fall 2022

QUESTIONS: Thaddeus.Pope@mitchellhamline.edu

Looking for Team Members for the National Health Law Moot Court Competition Please submit inquiries by May 30, 2022 DESCRIPTION: This is a three-decades-old national appellate moot court competition with 32 teams from law schools across the country.
