The streets were littered with broken glass from the windows of Jewish homes, businesses, and synagogues, earning the name, \u2018The Night of Broken Glass.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>This event offers 2 CLE credits for Minnesota lawyers and illustrates key issues in human rights law:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li>the distortion of and the use of law for murderous intent, illustrated by 433 laws throughout the Third Reich;<\/li>\n<li>the creation of the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide; and<\/li>\n<li>the influence of transitional justice and the law in Germany&#8217;s subsequent national response through sanctions, aid, and other means to states perpetrating genocide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a hybrid event \u2013 it is available as a webinar on Zoom or as an in-person event located at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, <strong>Conservatory and Great Room<\/strong>, 875 Summit Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55105.<\/p>\n<p>This event includes a talk by Dr. Andrew Port, author of \u201cNever Again: Germans and Genocide After the Holocaust,\u201d viewing of the exhibit, \u201cGenocide and Justice: From Nuremberg to the International Criminal Court,\u201d and a dessert reception.<\/p>\n<p>Registration is required by November 8: <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldwithoutgenocide.org\/kristallnacht\">www.worldwithoutgenocide.org\/kristallnacht<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>The program is open to the public<\/u>: $10 general public; $5 students and seniors; $25 for 2 CLE credits for Minnesota lawyers; free to Mitchell Hamline students (Diversity Credits are available); \u2018clock hours\u2019 available for Minnesota teachers, nurses, and social workers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[PDF \u2013 11-9-23 Kristallnacht title.pdf] On Thursday, November 9 from 7:00 &#8211; 9:00 pm CT, World Without Genocide in partnership with the Germanic-American Institute and Mount Zion Temple will hold an event and book signing: Germany After the Holocaust \u2013 From Kristallnacht to Other Genocides.
