Students who have completed their 1L year (with at least 24 credits completed) can participate, including remote and Hybrid students.<\/p>\n<p>The Criminal Justice Defense Externship gives students the opportunity to gain valuable courtroom experience\u00a0by representing clients in their criminal cases\u00a0while\u00a0working\u00a0at a Public Defender\u2019s office. There are placement opportunities with\u00a0all of the Public Defender\u2019s offices both in the metro area and in outstate Minnesota. Students do not need to bring a placement, but they can use a position they already have set up with a public defender\u2019s office or a private defense lawyer for the externship.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who is interested or has questions can contact Shawn Webb directly at shawn.webb@mnpd.us.\u00a0\u00a0He would be happy to discuss these opportunities and answer any questions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spots available for the summer session and fall semester.
