This doctrine has shielded government officials from civil liability, often denying justice to victims of constitutional violations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When:\u00a0<\/strong>Thursday, April 17th, 2025, 6-8 pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where:\u00a0<\/strong>St. Thomas School of Law, downtown Minneapolis campus (Room TBD)<\/p>\n<p>Our distinguished panelists will discuss the history of qualified immunity, its impact on accountability and civil rights in Minnesota and nationwide, and the path forward for reform.<\/p>\n<p>Panelists include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default\">\n<li><strong>Professor Jim Hilbert<\/strong>, Professor of Law at Mitchell Hamline School of Law; Senior Fellow, Dispute Resolution Institute<\/li>\n<li><strong>Professor Gregory Sisk<\/strong>, Pio Cardinal Laghi Distinguished Chair in Law at the University of St. Thomas School of Law<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chad Reese<\/strong>, Assistant Director of Activism for the Institute for Justice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This event is free and open to the public and a great opportunity for law students, legal professionals, policymakers, activists, and community members interested in justice and police accountability. There will be\u00a0<strong>light food options and refreshments.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join us as we explore how ending qualified immunity can help build a more just and accountable legal system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don&#8217;t Miss out!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This series is a collaboration between the University of St. Thomas&#8217;s Community Justice Project, the Minnesota Justice Coalition, The Reinvestigation Workgroup, and the Truth and Action Project of the Dispute Resolution Institute at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
