The Criminal Justice Defense Externship gives students the opportunity to gain valuable courtroom experience\u00a0by representing clients in their criminal cases\u00a0while\u00a0externing\u00a0at a Public Defender\u2019s office. There are placement opportunities with\u00a0all of the MN Public Defender\u2019s offices both in the metro area and in outstate Minnesota; in-person and remote options. Students do not need to bring a placement, but they can use a position they already have set up with a public defender\u2019s office or a private criminal defense lawyer for the externship.<\/p>\n
