Resources

Dispute resolution legal educators have a long tradition of sharing teaching resources and DRI has facilitated this sharing by collecting and publishing these resources. We are pleased to provide the collection of these resources in a searchable database.

In this database you will find experiential activities, simulations, videos, assignments, lesson plans, teaching tools, and podcasts. All items in the database are offered free of charge for academic use.

You may search this database in a variety of ways, based on “subject matter,” “skill,” etc. We also have added a search facet for “NextGen” which we anticipate will continue to grow with resources as we all learn more about the Next Gen Bar Exam and how best to prepare our students. To get started, choose at least one search option and select a filter. You will see the number of resources that are currently available for each.

This is a dynamic site to which items are added regularly. You also are welcome to submit a resource you wish to share.

Note that all submissions will be offered free of charge for academic use.

Converging!
At its core, the simulation’s framework is familiar: two disputing parties and a third-party neutral, all possessing both shared and private information. Parties must choose whether to fall into familiar patterns of competition and coercion, or endeavor to construct a collaborative process and achieve cooperative outcomes with their perceived enemies. Certain elements in the simulation’s […]

Resident or Non-Resident? A Tax Policy Dilemma
The moral justification for a state’s right to tax its residents stems from the understanding that residents benefit from public services provided by the state and should therefore contribute to their funding. However, globalization, with its increased mobility and new opportunities for generating income, continually challenges the traditional concept of residency. This shift often undermines […]
Harmful Tax Competition: To Participate or Not To Participate
In this ‘Prisoner’s Dilemma’ game, the conflict of interests illustrates the global phenomenon of harmful tax competition, whereby states use unfair practices to attract investors and potential taxpayers to them at the expense of other countries, e.g., by acting as tax havens. To prevent such practices, the participating countries set forth an agreed-upon body of […]

Consequently, they are recognized by international organizations as sources of global concern. Sweet Surrender

Tax Obedience in COVID-19 Times
Tax payment is a major civic duty in a modern state. Broad tax avoidance undermines governance. Several factors affect tax obedience, including the overall tax burden and the ratio between it and income, enforcement effectiveness, and taxpayers’ understanding and identification with tax-paying importance. In times of severe economic crises, the temptation to avoid tax payments […]
The United Currency Wars
This Prisoner’s Dilemma game game reflects a conflict of interests regarding deviation from financial stability rules that were agreed by the parties (the “Alliance”) as a major condition for the establishment of a united currency among them.
