Dr. Ozgur Cinar is a lawyer. He has been in academia since 2005. He authored several books, book chapters and journal articles on the issue of freedom of thought, conscience and religion, the European Court of Human Rights, and conscientious objection to military service. He has received his PhD in September 2012 from University of Essex, titled International Standards on Conscientious Objection to Military Service and Turkey’s Resulting Obligations. Currently, he is a senior lecturer at BPP University as well as a TUBITAK postdoctoral research fellow, Faculty of Law, University of Oxford working on the freedoms of thought, conscience, religion and expression in Turkey. He is a visiting fellow at Kellogg College, University of Oxford too. He also works as a legal expert for the Council of Europe since 2008.
