Harkins is responsible for all aspects of information risk and security at Irvine, California-based Cylance, which offers products and services to prevent execution of advanced persistent threats and malware, as well as public policy and customer outreach to help improve understanding of cyber risks. He spent 23 years with Intel, most recently as its first chief security and privacy officer. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including the 2015 Security Advisor Alliance Excellence in Innovation Award, the 2013 Evanta Top 10 Breakaway Leader Award, and the 2012 Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leader Award.
Harkins earned an M.B.A. from the University of California-Davis and a B.A. from the University of California-Irvine.
