Computer requirements
Mitchell Hamline students are not required to have a computer; however, most students find it useful to have a laptop computer. Recommended minimum and optimum laptop computer configurations can be found here:
The technical support staff at Mitchell Hamline is certified to repair Dell laptops within their original or extended warranty cycle. There is no charge for this service and is a great way to get full service for your laptop without the frustration and inconvenience associated with help desk phone lines. To use this service, purchase a Dell laptop with a warranty using the link above. Please feel free to design your own configuration based on the minimum and optimum configurations above.
Please note that our technicians can only repair hardware that is a part of the laptop itself. This excludes batteries, power adapters, docks, port replicators, and any external hardware. In these cases, you will be advised to call Dell directly for replacement or repair of the component.
E-mail account
On-campus students will receive a Mitchell Hamline e-mail account when you are on campus in August for orientation. Blended-learning students will receive a Mitchell Hamline e-mail account in July in order to access online orientation.
Lockers
Beginning in August, first-years students may rent a locker for the year. The cost of renting a locker for the year is $40, and students must provide their own lock. Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Lockers are popular, so you are encouraged to rent one when you are on campus for orientation in August if you are interested. Blended-learning students will have access to lockers during Preparation and Capstone Weeks.
Parking permits
Free parking permits will be provided to all first-year students who request them. These parking permits will allow first-year students to park in any available space they find in the Grotto Lot, two blocks east of Mitchell Hamline School of Law at Summit Avenue and Grotto Street. Free street parking is also available for first-year students on the streets surrounding the school within posted parameters. On the weekends only, first-year students with a parking permit may also park in the lots adjacent to the school. Parking permit request forms will be distributed to all incoming students later this summer. First-year students who have requested a parking permit may then pick up their parking permits on the first day of class at the Mitchell Hamline Information Desk.
